EKCOW operates as an official service. We continuously improve features and policies for stable operation.
We collect the following, among other items, as described in consent screens and the Korean policy:
Collection occurs at signup, when you use features, through cookies/logs, and from integrated services with your consent.
Autofill connects to government arrival/departure sites in an in-app WebView. Saved passport and flight ticket data may be assistively filled into form fields. Final submission and screening outcomes are your and the relevant authority’s responsibility. The Company does not auto-submit to government sites without your review.
Important: Phone and gender are optional; withdrawal deletes them promptly. Birth year is required during onboarding. Translation/learning requires location and anonymous translation statistics consent. Passport and flight ticket data are collected when you choose login/sign-up or save for autofill; social linkage is required at sign-up. Device-only passport storage is not kept on Company servers. Switching to device-only or withdrawing server consent deletes server-stored passport data. Device loss or app deletion may make device-only data unrecoverable. Withdrawal or deletion may limit login or autofill features.
We use data to provide and improve the Services (translation, learning, community, marketplace, business features, travel autofill), authenticate users, prevent fraud, comply with law, analyze anonymous statistics, and send notices. Location and anonymous translation statistics are used as stated in the Location Terms and consent screens.
We retain data while your account is active and for periods required by law afterward.
Anonymized statistics may be kept longer in non‑identifiable form. Dormant accounts (no login for one year) may be notified 30 days in advance before handling per internal policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose data to third parties only with your consent, as required by law, or to processors/vendors who assist operation under contracts (hosting, email, analytics) subject to confidentiality and purpose limitation.
Servers and subprocessors may be located outside Korea (e.g., cloud regions noted in service settings). When we transfer personal data abroad, we comply with legal requirements, use appropriate safeguards (contracts, encryption), and obtain consent where required. You may refuse overseas transfers; certain features (e.g., overseas business reservations) may then be unavailable.
We may entrust tasks such as hosting, messaging, payments, and analytics to vetted vendors under agreements requiring confidentiality and security obligations. Lists are available upon request or in notices when material.
When retention period ends or purposes are achieved, we delete or anonymize data using irrecoverable methods for electronic files, except where law requires retention.
You may request access, correction, deletion, suspension of processing, and withdrawal of consent via app settings (including consent management, location/translation statistics, marketing notifications) or by contacting contact@wisetune.site. Some requests may be limited by law. You may lodge complaints with supervisory authorities.
Important: Withdrawing consent for optional items (phone, gender, etc.) deletes that data promptly and does not affect basic service use (except birth year).
We apply encryption (e.g., AES‑256 for sensitive data), access controls, logging, minimization, staff training, and organizational measures to protect personal data.
We may use essential and functional cookies/logs for operation. You can control cookies/browser settings; some features may not work if disabled.
EKCOW designates the following privacy officer:
You may contact us for access/correction/deletion, complaints, and breach reports.
Information submitted through reporting features is used to investigate violations, enforce policies, and protect users, and is retained only as long as necessary for those purposes.
Accepted by 방송미디어통신사무소 under the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, Article 9-2.
Location is processed as described in the Location Terms: purposes include rates, translation recommendations, maps, travel home/weather, and optional post tagging. Where necessary, coordinates may be stored on servers with encryption (e.g., AES-256). Third‑party disclosure only as permitted by law or consent. Upon consent withdrawal or post removal, related location data is deleted; upon account withdrawal, complete deletion within 30 days per §3.2. Location manager: contact@wisetune.site.
You may seek mediation or complaint resolution through the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee, KISA Privacy Report Center, Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, or Korean National Police Agency, as listed in the Korean version.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 14; signup is restricted to users 14 and older.
If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and authorities as required by law and take mitigation steps.
We collect IP, device model/OS, device identifiers for anti‑abuse and operations, app version, and access logs. Non‑personalized ads only: we do not use IDFA/GAID for tracking or personalized ads; ATT is not requested. See the Korean policy for opt‑out paths on iOS/Android.
